Pinky Tsang started playing piano at the age of five and took up percussion training with Lee Hung Kun at eleven. She earned the ATCL (Recital) Diploma in Piano and Percussion with distinction.
Tsang received a BA with first honors in Music (Piano Performance and Pedagogy) from Hong Kong Baptist University, under the guidance of Mr. Shum Kin Wai. During her study at HKBU, she also received coaching from Dr. Cheng Wai, Dr. Karl Lo, and Marie Laure Muller. She also played in masterclasses by Eugene Skovorodnikov, Marilyn Engle and Paolo Vairo.
Tsang obtained her Master of Music degree from the Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University, where she studied with Reiko Neriki and Prof. Evelyne Brancart. She also studied pedagogy with Dr. Karen Taylor and collaborative piano with Lee Philips. She was an accompanist in the studios of Prof. Eli Eban, Prof. Linda Strommen and Prof. Masumi Per Rostad. She also worked as an accompanist at the Indiana University Ballet Department and Indiana University Summer String Academy.
Tsang performs actively as a collaborative pianist in Hong Kong and the United States. She is a member of QUARTER, a local two-piano-two-percussion quartet. She is a percussionist and pianist in the Hong Kong Young Musicians’ Wind Orchestra with whom she has performed locally and abroad in places that include Macau, Taiwan, Singapore and Holland. She performed as a guest pianist with the Pro Arte Orchestra of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Baptist University Percussion Ensemble. She has performed as a guest percussionist in the Hong Kong Music Academy Symphony Orchestra. She was also an accompanist for the Hong Kong Treble Choir.
